Chandra Wong

Chandra Wong is a self-educated artist and photographer. Originally from Calgary, her artwork is inspired by the many places she has lived, including Tofino, Fort St. John, and most recently Penticton. “From the moment my dad put his Brownie Box camera into my eager four year-old hands, I have been documenting my observations of the natural world, people and their life events with a camera.” Chandra absorbed the ‘rules’ of photography through workshops and practical experience. She enjoys bending these rules to capture intuitive and graphically interesting images. Having worked as a journalist and photographer at a community newspaper in Fort St. John, Chandra prefers to capture real moments against the backdrop of the local landscape. Her style is photojournalistic, using natural light and her knowledge of the technical aspects of photography to tell a story as it unfolds.
